I recently went outside and noticed my gladioli had bloomed, having grown them from bulbs. They grown for months and then bloom for about three minutes. The one I noticed had bloomed with a shock of neon orange petals facing the wall of the house rather than towards the sun so I had to swivel it round to bask in the evening light. Sometimes one little phrase uttered to oneself while swivelling a plant is enough to inspire a piece of art.
